FIND THE WORK · FIND THE WITNESS

A manuscript map
for connected reading.

Use the title, the witness and the edition together. Each tells you something different.

Three fields on a reading card

The literary title identifies the work. A manuscript identifier locates a surviving witness. An edition tells you which arrangement, transcription or translation you are reading. Keep all three when making a comparison so another learner can return to the same starting point.
