Sefer Yetzirah: ten, twenty-two and thirty-two paths

Understand the opening count in the Book of Formation and keep it distinct from Babylon’s mapped Tree paths and paired Gates.

Learning in the Light

In Babylon, the Father’s light opens perspective, learning and a chosen next step. Your worth remains intact. Every person is sovereign, with dignity, freedom and room to grow.

Source passage · W. W. Westcott, English translation (1887), chapter I, sections 1–4

The opening presents thirty-two paths of wisdom alongside ten sephiroth and twenty-two letters. Its letters are grouped as three Mothers, seven Doubles and twelve Simples. Begin by identifying the two counts and their different objects.

Give each number a noun

On your worksheet write ten stations, twenty-two letters and thirty-two paths in the opening framework. Check which words come from the edition and which describe Babylon’s adopted map. A noun makes a count teachable: twenty-two letters and twenty-two fixed corridors can be related without becoming the same kind of object.

A worked example with cards

Make ten cards labelled station and twenty-two labelled letter. You now have thirty-two cards in two groups. That demonstration checks addition only. It does not tell you where a letter belongs on a Tree, which image accompanies it, or what spiritual interpretation to adopt. Those questions need a named map and an explanation of its own.

Babylon’s reading: a structure made usable

Babylon’s authored teaching carries the numbers into a connected learning practice offered in devotion to the Father and Yeshua. Use one mapped station, one fixed path and one letter entry to explain the distinction. The learner can explore a symbolic relationship while keeping the source edition and Babylon’s interpretation visible as separate layers.

Keep the 231 question on its own line

The Gate calculation asks how many unordered pairs can be made from twenty-two distinct letters. It gives 231. Pairing two letters is a different operation from adding ten and twenty-two. When a learner asks about a number, first name the objects and the rule. Then open the worked guide that matches the question.

A question to carry

When you say path, are you discussing the text’s opening framework or a fixed corridor on Babylon’s map?
