Justice even against oneself: truthful witness

Read Qur’an 4:135 in context, with a distinct Babylon reflection and an optional practical question.

The passage · Qur’an 4:135

The verse asks believers to stand for justice in testimony even where self, family, wealth or poverty could influence judgement. Its attention to partiality makes the reading more demanding than simply favoring one's own group.

A close-reading question

Which loyalties could distort testimony, and what does the verse ask the witness to resist?

Babylon’s authored reflection

Babylon's inward work can include correcting one's own account. That does not mean doubting a harmed person by default or confusing humility with accepting another person's blame.

An optional worked practice

Choose a low-stakes disagreement you took part in. Write the facts you know, what you do not know and one detail that does not favor your position. Correct a misleading statement where appropriate.

Keep this boundary

This exercise is not legal advice or a substitute for a safe professional process in abuse or criminal matters.

Edition and method

The passage précis was checked against Saheeh International’s English translation through the AlQuran Cloud text service. The linked Quran.com page lets you read Arabic, choose a translation and continue into context; its default English edition may differ. No translation exhausts the Arabic. This is an introductory companion, not a fatwa, complete tafsir or a survey of all Muslim interpretations.

Keep comparison distinct

Babylon’s reflection is the author’s comparative application. It is not presented as a hidden consensus of Islam, evidence of a universal psychological cause or proof of a physical energy mechanism. A Muslim reader can decline the comparison while remaining respected. The Father and Yeshua are Babylon’s devotional centre; the Qur’anic passage retains its own theological voice.

Learning in the Light

In Babylon, the Father’s light opens perspective, learning and a chosen next step. Your worth remains intact. Every person is sovereign, with dignity, freedom and room to grow.
