How should I compare different versions of a teaching?
Identify the version, preserve the distinction, and use the current method consistently.
Understand the idea
A growing body of work can refine vocabulary, calculation rules, and teaching order over time. A familiar name in an older lesson may therefore have a different role in the current method. Before combining material, ask when it was written, which structure it describes, and whether a later protocol changes its rule. In the learning centre, the current October astrology protocol anchors daily-method explanations. Other reviewed sources can deepen an example or explain the development of an idea without silently replacing that anchor. An earlier Joy label and the current Heart label for Tet, for example, can be related through the teaching’s creative quality while keeping the current label clear. When a rule remains unresolved, preserve the question internally instead of filling the gap with an invented correspondence.
An example to work with
Compare two charts in columns: term, structure, calculation rule, and date. Mark an actual difference separately from a spelling variant. Teach one consistent rule and state which convention a comparison uses.
Is the difference a wording change, a different layer, or a changed rule?
