Path 16 · The Hierophant

A teaching passes from understanding into a relationship with another learner.

Understand the idea

Vav is the connector. The Hierophant explores how a received teaching remains alive when it is passed on. Fidelity involves understanding what is being carried and finding language that another person can actually use. A tradition becomes accessible through the quality of that connection.

MAKE IT PRACTICAL

An example to work with

Explain an idea in ordinary language, then invite the learner to restate it in their own words.

FOR TEACHERS

Name the corridor before interpreting it

Identify The Hierophant as the card, Vav as the letter, and Chokhmah and Chesed as the connecting stations. Use the example to explain the movement, then invite the learner’s own account.

Two ways to meet the movement

The path supplies a reflective question. How it is expressed remains a human choice.

Constructive expression

Pass on a teaching in language another person can use

What can obstruct it

Dependence on the teacher replaces the learner’s understanding.

Try it as a teaching exercise

Use the example above. Describe one response that supports the movement and one that obstructs it. Ask the learner what evidence would help distinguish the two, then choose one action to review.
