Why does the daily method use forty numbered Minor cards?
Ten station numbers viewed through four suits produce forty fixed symbolic addresses.
Understand the idea
The count is ten times four. The Ace supplies the first address in each suit, followed by Two through Ten. At a particular station, the four matching numbers examine the same function through different Worlds. A Seven of Wands lens concerns will, while the Seven of Cups, Swords, and Pentacles examine feeling, thought, and material expression at that same station address. Court cards are a separate layer and do not increase the ten numbered station addresses. A teacher should also distinguish the complete forty-address reference matrix from a particular collective reading that selects one station. The current October daily method determines how the primary station is selected; the fixed number-and-suit vocabulary then supports its interpretation. Counting the matrix does not by itself tell you how to calculate the day’s station.
An example to work with
Make a table with ten rows and four suit columns. Fill the first row with the four Aces and the third with the four Threes. Ask which part changes when you move across a row and which part changes when you move down a column.
What does the number identify, and what does the suit identify?
Part of Babylon’s authored teaching framework. Symbolic correspondences offer a language for reflection and learning.
