Path 12 · The Magician

An intention takes up tools and finds a container.

Understand the idea

Bet is the house: the first structure that can hold an intention. The Magician brings attention to the tools already available and the direction in which they are used. The work is to give purpose a usable form, rather than allowing technique to become an end in itself.

MAKE IT PRACTICAL

An example to work with

Choose a learning goal, gather the tools you need, and organize them around that goal.

FOR TEACHERS

Name the corridor before interpreting it

Identify The Magician as the card, Bet as the letter, and Keter and Binah as the connecting stations. Use the example to explain the movement, then invite the learner’s own account.

Two ways to meet the movement

The path supplies a reflective question. How it is expressed remains a human choice.

Constructive expression

Use the tools in service of a clear intention

What can obstruct it

Technique is used to impress or control the learner.

Try it as a teaching exercise

Use the example above. Describe one response that supports the movement and one that obstructs it. Ask the learner what evidence would help distinguish the two, then choose one action to review.
