Why 231?
Choose two different letters from twenty-two. There are 22 × 21 ordered choices; reversing a pair describes the same unordered combination, so divide by two: 22 × 21 ÷ 2 = 231. Repeated letters are excluded. This explorer counts combinations; it does not assign Gate numbers or invent a teaching for a pair.
